Our goal is to provide quality Teen programming that will have a positive impact in these four main areas: personal growth, leadership training, service to others and social development. Programs and special events include Teen Leaders Club, Teen Basketball League, Youth and Teen Activity Nights and field trips school breaks.

LEADERSHIP



Jr. Teen Leaders Club

A brand new program designed for 6-8 grade students. Serve as a volunteer at the YMCA. Develop teamwork skills and clarify values through fun games and activities. Attend the Upstate New York Teen Rally in May at YMCA Camp Gorham. Attend social leadership development event
.

Teen Leaders Club

A unique program designed for 9th-12th grade students who are interested in making an impact on their community. This group focuses on volunteer service, leadership development skills and fundraising. Take part in four Teen Rallies throughout the Northeast and a week long summer leadership conference, Leaders School. Be an integral part of the launch of our Jr. Leaders Club.

Location: YMCA Camp Arrowhead Teen Room
Days/Times: Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm &
           Thursday 6:00-7:30pm

 

 

Youth and Government

The New York State YMCA Youth & Government program provides high school teens with the opportunity to use their thoughts, voices and action to make change. The program is dedicated to teaching young people to use the democratic process to affect change that has an impact on their individual communities and around the State.

SERVICE

Summer Volunteer Internship Program

Offered during the summer & school year for teens 12-15 years old.
Participants volunteer in a chosen department (Aquatics, Child Care, Member Service, Gymnastics Camp and/or Sports Camp) within the YMCA. Through shadowing and hands-on experience, youth can see first hand what employment at the YMCA could be like. V.I.P.'s also will receive training in basic first aid, water safety and workplace professionalism.

Days: Monday through Friday
Time: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Teen Service Corps

This program will help your teen do their required volunteer service in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Teens in this program will get an introductory YMCA training, job readiness training and a mentor in their volunteer area. These mentors will help guide the teens to sucess.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

"Youth & Teen Yoga

A yoga class designed especially for youth & teens ages 10 and up. Yoga poses are used to build strength and flexibility. Participants  relieve stress and tension, working inwards while working out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 "Got Strength?" Teen Strength Training Program

Improve strength, cardiovascular endurance and flexibility with out strength-training program created for young adults. Participants will be introduced to various forms of resistance training techniques, cardiovascular programs, flexibility exercises, nutrition and healthy lifestyles,
as well as Wellness Center etiquette. A Fitness Assessment
is completed at the beginning and end
of the session to measure personal progress.

Age requirement: 12 years old and up
Program Length: 12 weeks.
Location: Southeast Family YMCA Wellness Center
